The Virtual Vulnerabilities Project is an ongoing study into the positive and negative effects of Massively-Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs). An MMORPG is a video game genre capable of supporting thousands of users simultaneously.  By necessity, they embrace the internet as a communication medium and feature at least one persistent world.

This aims of this research project are to investigate:

  • The social and psychological precursors to online gaming
  • The social and psychological impacts of online gaming to individuals and lifestyles
  • Levels of addiction to MMMORPGs
  • Threats to personal privacy and safety within MMORPG enviornments

The Virtual Vulnerabilities Project is currently being conducted in the following countries:
